# Prepare
Preview and prepare Lottie animations before adding them to Webflow.

Preparation is the optional step between finding an animation and inserting it. A simple Lottie can keep its defaults. Use this chapter when the source needs review, a visual adjustment, or an advanced dotLottie runtime.

## In this chapter

- **[Adding a local animation](/en/integrations/webflow/04_prepare/adding-a-local-animation)** - upload a local source to Workspace before using it in Webflow.
- **[Previewing and customizing](/en/integrations/webflow/04_prepare/previewing-and-customizing)** - inspect playback, background, and renderer.
- **[Recoloring an animation](/en/integrations/webflow/04_prepare/recoloring-an-animation)** - apply a preset or custom palette and save the result to Workspace.
- **[Working with multi-animation files](/en/integrations/webflow/04_prepare/working-with-multi-animation-files)** - choose a child animation and understand its insertion path.
- **[Using themes](/en/integrations/webflow/04_prepare/using-themes)** - apply a fixed theme or prepare light and dark variants.
- **[Preparing state machines](/en/integrations/webflow/04_prepare/preparing-state-machines)** - test and insert an interactive dotLottie player.

## Keep the first insertion simple

Only choose an advanced player when the published experience needs dotLottie v2, runtime themes, multiple animations, or a state machine. An ordinary Lottie uses Webflow's native element and has fewer runtime dependencies.
