Advanced Duplicator

Create pattern-based duplications with precise control over positioning, transforms, and animation timing. Generate grids, circles, spirals, and custom arrangements with automatic transform interpolation and staggered animation offsets.

What is Advanced Duplicator?

Pattern-based duplication with transform and animation control.

How it works:

  1. Select layer to duplicate

  2. Choose from 6 duplication patterns

  3. Configure transform variations (position, scale, rotation, opacity)

  4. Add animation stagger for cascading effects

  5. Preview before applying

  6. One-click application

Accessing Advanced Duplicator

Access methods:

  • Right-click layer → "Advanced Duplicate"
  • Keyboard shortcut: Shift + Cmd/Ctrl + D
  • Left sidebar: Click Duplicator icon
  • Edit menu: Edit → Advanced Duplicate

Requirements:

  • Must have a layer selected
  • Layer cannot be locked
  • Works with single layer selection

Duplication patterns

Linear — arrange in straight line

  • Count, direction (angle), spacing X/Y
  • Use for: horizontal/vertical rows, diagonal lines

Grid — arrange in rows and columns

  • Rows, columns, row gap, column gap, stagger option
  • Use for: icon grids, product galleries, tile layouts

Circular — arrange around a circle

  • Count, radius, start/end angle, orient to path
  • Use for: radial menus, clock faces, circular progress indicators

Spiral — arrange in spiral from center outward

  • Count, start/end radius, revolutions, growth rate (linear/exponential)
  • Use for: spiral galaxies, vortex effects, growing animations

Confetti — scatter duplicates in explosion-like pattern

  • Count, spread radius, seed
  • Use for: confetti explosions, particle bursts, celebration effects

Random — distribute duplicates randomly within boundary

  • Count, boundary shape (rectangle/circle), min distance, seed
  • Use for: random star fields, scattered objects, organic distributions

Transform options

Apply graduated transform changes across duplicates.

Available transforms:

  • Scale — size progression (start/end percentage)
  • Rotation — rotation progression (start/end degrees)
  • Opacity — fade progression (start/end percentage)
  • Position Offset — gradual position shift (start/end X,Y offset)

Interpolation:

  • Linear, Ease In, Ease Out, Ease In-Out
  • Each transform has checkbox to enable/disable

Animation offset

Stagger animation timing for cascading effects.

Animation options:

  • Enable Animation Offset — toggle stagger on/off
  • Offset Amount — frame delay between duplicates
  • Direction — Forward, Backward, Center Out, Random

Preview and apply

Live preview:

  • Enable preview to see duplicates in real-time
  • Non-destructive — original layer unchanged
  • Adjust any setting to see instant update

Applying duplication:

  1. Configure pattern, transforms, animations

  2. Enable preview to verify results

  3. Make final adjustments

  4. Click "Apply" button

  5. Duplicates created as real layers

  6. Original layer remains selected
