Updating a published animation
Replace a Framer player when its Workspace source changes.
Workspace is the reviewable source of truth, but an inserted Framer component does not automatically move to a new Workspace version.
Review the new source
Open the updated file in the plugin Workspace.
Compare it with the animation currently published in Framer.
Confirm the child animation, theme IDs, state-machine IDs, dimensions, and background expectations.
Preview the updated file before changing the page.
Replace the page instance
The safest workflow is to keep the existing component until the replacement is ready:
Insert the updated animation near the existing component.
Match the Framer layout and breakpoint settings.
Reapply playback, light/dark theme, and state-machine choices.
Preview both components, then remove the old one.
Publish and verify the live URL.
Do not assume that identical file names mean identical runtime settings. Theme and state-machine identifiers can change between versions.
